As the year moves forward, we’re happy to bring you a few exciting updates from our work on the ground. From a new addition to our team, to the continuation of an empowering project, and our participation in a global charity run — there’s been a lot happening, and we’re glad to share it with you!

A New Doctor Joins the Team

In February, a new doctor joined our medical team. Following an application process, she was selected for her excellent qualifications and great motivation. We are delighted to have another woman in our team with Dr. Ammie. She completed her trial period with great success, fit in well with the team and met all expectations. She officially joined our team at the beginning of May and has already conducted two complete first aid training courses in Farafangana. We are very happy to have her on board!

At first, I thought people weren’t really interested in first aid. But I was pleasantly surprised to see how motivated they were, eager to learn how to help others. I was nervous about teaching at first, but as the sessions went on, I felt more and more comfortable. I realized that I truly enjoy what I do.

Scaling Up the FA-WAY Project

Our partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports continues through the FA-WAY project in the central-east and south-east regions of Madagascar. Last year, we delivered first aid training to youth across four districts, with a special focus on empowering girls and women to take on active roles in their communities.
This year, we’re taking things a step further by selecting the most engaged beneficiaries and training them to become first aid instructors themselves. Our vision is to promote first aid knowledge across Madagascar, and empowering local instructors is key to both sustaining the initiative and expanding it into new areas.

In the video below, Mirana shares her first experiences as a first aid instructor from the district of Vangaindrano.

Running with Purpose: Wings for Life 2025

On May 4, our AiNA soa team – with members in Switzerland and Madagascar – took part in the Wings for Life World Run. Among the 310,719 participants from all over the world, our 34 runners covered a total of 387 kilometers. Participation fees contributed to funding spinal cord research. What’s more, thanks to our generous sponsors, every kilometer covered supports our work in Madagascar. A great opportunity to combine sport and solidarity, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s race!

Here are a few photos of our runners this year. You can see more here.

Thank You for Your Support!

The faithful support of many different people is of the highest value to us. Thank you for supporting our work. We are delighted with the virtual solidarity and will provide another update in a few months’ time.

Sincerely
